StudioCanal UK has announced “One from the Heart: Reprise,” a new 4K restoration and ‘reimagining’ of Francis Ford Coppola’s ultra lavish 1982 musical coming to 4k UHD disc.
The film follows a Las Vegas couple (Teri Garr, Frederic Forrest) whose break-up on the 4th of July leads them both to a night on the strip in pursuit of their romantic fantasies (Raul Julia, Nastassja Kinski).
But in this town of gamblers and dreamers should they bet it all on dreams, or give true love another roll of the dice. The film was famed for its cinematic visuals courtesy of cinematographer Vittorio Storaro (“Apocalypse Now,” ” The Last Emperor”) abd score by Tom Waits.
Approved by Coppola himself, this new ‘Reprise’ version will contain six minutes of footage added to replace the original negative that was previously thought to be destroyed.
Along with the upgraded visuals of the film itself, the release comes packed with a stack of extras. The first disc contains the new cut along with Francis Ford Coppola feature commentary, new trailer, several featurettes on the film’s look, cast, choreography and the restoration.
In addition, there’s a featurette titled “Reinventing the Musical” which sees “Elvis” and “Moulin Rouge” helmer Baz Luhrmann discussing the film’s impact.
The second disc contains the theatrical cut, deleted scenes, rehearsal videos, making of documentary, several featurettes, music video, stop motion demo, alternate tracks from the Tom Waits score, trailers and more.
“One from the Heart: Reprise” will be released on 4K UHD on March 4th.
