Apple TV+ has renewed its Lee Pace-led sci-fi series “Foundation” for a third season – the order coming three months after the series wrapped its second season airing in mid-September.
Adapted from Isaac Asimov’s pioneering book series, the galactic saga chronicles the journeys of four crucial individuals transcending space and time and ultimately determining the fate of humanity.
The new season will see the Mule take center stage while fan-favorites Bayta, Toran, Ebling, and Magnifico Giganticus all return in the wake of the shocking events of the second season finale.
David S. Goyer serves as showrunner and executive producer on the premium sci-fi series and teases the arrival of The Mule (played by Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt):
“He’s magnitudes of order more powerful than Tellem. When Asimov created [the Mule], it was a character that flipped the whole table over. When the Mule enters the story properly in Season 3, that’s completely what he does…. As crazy as the end of Season 2 is, Season 3 is even crazier. You haven’t seen anything yet.”
Jared Harris, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels and Dimitri Leonidas co-star in the series.
Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, and Robin Asimov also executive produce for Skydance Television and Apple.
