Rockstar Games has released the first trailer for “Grand Theft Auto VI,” the clip officially going online around 15 hours earlier than originally intended due to a leak a few hours ago of a poor quality copy.
The trailer arrives in time to mark the company’s 25th anniversary. Rockstar confirmed back in February last year that active development for the game was well underway but kept details about it secret.
Just over a year ago, a massive data leak saw more than an hour of development footage from the title leaking online and confirmed previous reports of a setting in Vice City (the GTA equivalent of Miami) and the title featuring male and female protagonists.
Set to Tom Petty’s “Love Is A Long Road,” the clip shows plenty of the usual Miami cliches from alligators, everglades, beaches, high rises, speedboats, nightlife, car culture, hicks, crims, and countless crimes of fashion.
It also suggests some of the plot with the two protagonists seemingly knowing each other very well and pulling off a robbery in one scene.
The trailer confirms the title is expected to be released in 2025. “Grand Theft Auto V,” which was released in 2013, has reached over 190 million units sold worldwide.
