Amazon Prime Video’s new series adaptation of “Cruel Intentions” is moving forward again following the exits of two previously announced stars.
Claire Forlani (“Meet Joe Black,” “CSI: NY”) will replace Laura Benanti who exited the project in June. Myra Molloy is also no longer in the cast.
Hopping onboard are Savannah Lee Smith (“Gossip Girl”) and Khobe Clarke (“Firefly Lane”) as regulars, whilst Nikki Crawford (“9-1-1”), Isabella Tagliati (“Scuba”) and Zeke Goodman (“I Know What You Did Last Summer”) will recur.
Sean Patrick Thomas (“Gen V”), who starred in the original 1999 film, will return in a different role – Professor Chadwick. Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, Brooke Lena Johnson, Sara Silva and John Harlan Kim also star.
The new version takes place at an elite Washington, D.C. college, where two ruthless step-siblings will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy.
After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system at their school, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation, even if that means seducing the daughter of the vice president of the United States.
Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman serve as writers and executive producers.
