Whilst a brief logo reveal clip was released in cinemas and online a few months back, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary have now premiered the official first trailer for Adam Wingard’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”.
The all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.
The film delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
The cast includes “Godzilla vs. Kong” returnees Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kaylee Hottle who are joined by Dan Stevens, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen. Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett and Jeremy Slater penned the script.
The clip comes as Wingard recently spoke with IGN about the film and indicates those complaining about too many humans in either “Godzilla Minus One” or “Monarch” won’t have that issue here as its all monsters almost all the time:
“So much of the film is entirely animated CG shots; so much of it is just pure imagination. We have some sequences going up to about eight minutes long, where it’s just the monsters doing their thing, and so the movie really allows the monsters to tell their own narrative in a visual, nonverbal way.”
In addition he confirms Titanus Doug, a reptilian resident of Hollow Earth who appears in one shot of “Godzilla vs. Kong,” will return.
“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” opens in cinemas April 12th.
