The BBC has released a series of new photos from Ncuti Gatwa‘s first full episode as the Fifteenth Doctor in “Doctor Who” – this year’s Christmas special titled “The Church on Ruby Road”.
Gatwa will be joined by new companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) in the special which will play on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Disney+ globally.
The episode sees The Doctor come face-to-face with mythical and mysterious goblin creatures as his life collides with Ruby who goes on to become his new companion in the TARDIS.
TV presenter Davina McCall will appear along with Michelle Greenidge and Angela Wynter as Ruby’s mother Carla and grandmother Cherry respectively. Anita Dobson also co-stars as Mrs Flood.
Showrunner Russell T Davies penned the episode which will air around Christmas/New Year celebrations in the UK. It will come ahead of the first eight-episode full season of Gatwa’s run as the character expected to air early 2024. A second season is currently in production.
Gatwa is expected to make a brief appearance in the finale of the three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant. That episode airs December 9th.
