Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora are all set to return for the sequel to 2022 horror hit “The Black Phone”.
The “Sinister” team of director Scott Derrickson and his co-writer C. Robert Cargill crafted the sleeper hit which pulled in over $161 million worldwide from a budget 1/10th that amount.
The film saw Mason Thames playing a young teenager abducted by a child killer in a suburban neighborhood and locked in a soundproof basement.
He begins to get calls on a disconnected rotary phone from his deranged captor’s previous victims, all trying to help him to figure out a way to escape before he becomes the next one.
The film scored very good reviews from critics and audiences, and was considered not just one of the success stories of last summer but one of the most profitable films of last year.
Derrickson and Cargill are back for the sequel with Jason Blum producing. “The Black Phone 2” has already set a theatrical release of June 27th 2025 has been set.
