It’s official, filming is now underway again in the UK on the third “Deadpool” film with Marvel Studios executive Wendy Jacobson confirming the restart in an Instagram posting.
The exec posted the one photo from the film released thus far and said: “This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the gifts of being back at work and watching the sun rise from set today.”
The Shawn Levy-directed project was one of the most high-profile movies that had to suspend filming due to the strike and was said to be halfway through its shoot when it hit pause. Once the strike was ended, the production raced to resume filming and has now done so in just two weeks.
“Deadpool 3” will now mark the only Marvel Studios film opening in 2024, though Sony will have three Marvel features (“Madame Web,” “Kraven the Hunter” and “Venom 3”) all coming out.
It will also be fully R-rated and expected to be tonally in line with the previous two films in the series. Levy told Wired last month: “Some of the jokes are dirty, some of them are cultural observations…. Our movie is very loyal to that DNA too, with tremendous Marvel and Disney support, in making fun of and being self-aware about everything, including themselves.”
“Deadpool 3” is currently slated to release on July 26th 2024.
