Max’s “The Batman” spin-off series “The Penguin” is heading back into production with filming reportedly set to resume the week after Thanksgiving.
Shooting began in March but was halted in June due to the writer’s strike and later actor’s strike. As they’re both over, everyone will get back to work next week, including star Colin Farrell who reprises the Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot/The Penguin role.
The eight-episode series takes place within days to weeks after the end of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film with the death of Carmine Falcone (Jon Turturro) and parts of Gotham City still somewhat flooded.
A fight for control of Gotham’s underworld is underway as The Penguin, Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), and arrested mob boss Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown) battle for control.
Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes co-star in the project with Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directing the first two episodes and executive producing.
Lauren LeFranc is penning the series and will serve as showrunner. Farrell, LeFranc, Dylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Daniel Pipski, Adam Kassanand, and Rafi Crohn executive produce
