NBC has announced that the third season of its sci-fi drama series “La Brea” will be its last. The series will conclude with an abbreviated season of just six episodes that will premiere on Tuesday, January 9th.
Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Chike Okonkwo star in the series that began with a massive sinkhole opening in Los Angeles, pulling people and buildings into a mysterious and dangerous primeval land where they have no choice but to band together to survive.
The news was announced alongside NBC announcing their new season slate in the wake of the actor’s strike conclusion. Wolf Entertainment’s three “Chicago” and three “Law & Order” dramas will return on January 17th and January 18th respectively.
Those returns come a full month before dramas on the other major broadcast networks are set to return, and are a testament to Dick Wolf’s company that can effectively deliver new episodes in the space of just two months. Filming on those episodes begin this coming Monday.
The network will also premiere its new pre-strike shot Jon Cryer-led comedy “Extended Family” on December 23rd. 2024 return dates for “Quantum Leap” and “Magnum P.I.” haven’t yet been announced.
