Following the announcement of “The Last Of Us Part II – Remastered” yesterday, Naughty Dog has now offered details on an upgrade path for existing owners of the game.
The studio confirms existing owners of the game will be able to upgrade to the new ‘Remastered’ version for $10 USD at launch on January 19th.
This applies not just to owners of the game digitally but physical disc owners can also reportedly upgrade by inserting their PS4 discs into their PS5s (disc drive version) and paying the upgrade fee.
In addition, saves from the original game will have no problem being imported into the remaster.
That marks a change from “The Last of Us Part I” remake which was a completely separate purchase no matter if you already had the PS3 original or the PS4 remastered version of the game.
There is no word on the price point for how much the remaster will cost without upgrading from an existing copy.
The Remastered version of the game adds a bunch of visual, accessibility and technical improvements along with an extra roguelike mode, previously cut levels with developer commentary attached, and new skins.
The release will arrive around the time that filming will kick off on the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” which will adapt around half of the events of this game.
