It’s official, James Cameron’s coming to 4K in a big way starting next month with “The Abyss,” “True Lies” and “Aliens” all announced for 4K UHD and Blu-ray disc releases in March.
They will be preceded by 4K UHD digital releases of the titles, including all their extras, arriving on digital storefronts like iTunes and Amazon from December 12th.
The 4K transfer for each release will be presented in Dolby Vision HDR and with an Atmos audio mix. In addition, most of the releases will arrive with several hours of all-new bonus features.
In addition, extras-packed collector’s editions of his two “Avatar” films on 4K are on the way and all are joining the previously announced “Titanic” 4K collector’s edition set. The roll-out will be as follows:
December 5th
“Titanic” 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition (disc and digital)
December 12th
“Aliens” Collector’s Edition 4K (digital)
“The Abyss” Collector’s Edition 4K (digital)
“True Lies” Collector’s Edition 4K (digital)

Extras include a new ‘deep dive’ conversation with James Cameron regarding “The Abyss” and he addresses some of the myths behind the production and a new behind-the-scenes documentary look at “True Lies”.
This all comes after “The Abyss: Special Edition” gets a one night only screening on December 6th in cinemas.
