The Alberta Film Ratings board has classified the first trailer for Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man” spin-off “Madame Web” ahead of that film’s launch in February next year.
The trailer clocks in at 2 minutes and 30 seconds and was classified earlier today along with a new 2 minutes and 17 seconds trailer for rom-com “Anyone But You”. It will mark the first piece of promotional material out for the film which has released no photos or artwork thus far.
The general rule with trailer classifications on this page is that trailers can then arrive online anytime from as soon as the same day as the posting, to up to 7-10 days later. That suggests Sony will launch the trailer either before the week’s out or early next week.
Dakota Johnson stars in the lead role in the film which marks a part of Sony’s Marvel universe alongside “Venom” and “Mobius”. Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet also star in the S. J. Clarkson-directed feature.
The project serves as an origin story for Madame Web, a clairvoyant character whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless penned the screenplay.
“Madame Web” is set for a February 16th 2024 theatrical release, the first of three Sony-Marvel films opening next year with “Kraven the Hunter” coming in August and “Venom 3” towards year’s end.
