Netflix unveiled a new featurette during its Geeked Week celebrations today with the clip offering an update on the progress of their “Devil May Cry” anime series.
“Castlevania” anime producer Adi Shankar serves as the creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the animated series which he and his development partner Alex Larsen have been working on since it was first announced in 2018.
Shankar, who was also showrunner for “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix,” says: “Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform – period.”
He’s teaming with Studio Mir (“The Legend of Korra,” “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf”) on the project and advises fans to “get hyped” for the show.
The animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game sees sinister forces at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms.
In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck. The “Devil May Cry” games launched in 2001 and has become one of Capcom’s signature franchises.
