Disney and Pixar debuted the teaser trailer for their highly anticipated “Inside Out” sequel on Thursday and the clip has smashed records.
The trailer reportedly garnered a stunning 157 million views in 24 hours. That makes it the biggest animated trailer launch in Disney history, surpassing the previous record of 116 million held by the “Frozen 2” teaser in 2019.
The film returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions!
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.
Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar says in a statement:
“We are thrilled so many people have tuned in to check out the new trailer for Inside Out 2. When the first film came out, we knew that by telling a story where we could see our emotions – those little voices inside your head – there would be so much more to explore than we could possibly fit into one film.”
TikTok in particular was a big platform for the clip where it brought in 78 million views in the past day. “Inside Out 2” will hit cinemas on June 14th next year.
