The third “Deadpool” film will be one of the first major film projects to resume production following a four-month suspension due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
According to Variety, filming on the new installment is slated to restart before the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday which is in two weeks time.
The project marked one of the most high-profile movies that had to suspend filming due to the strike and was said to be halfway through its shoot when it hit pause.
It also famously filmed much of what it had shot during the writer’s strike which prevented its actors, including star Ryan Reynolds, from improvising lines at the time. That is no longer a problem.
The film was previously scheduled to be released on May 3rd 2024 but was reportedly pulled from that date. Reynolds confirmed in a social media post today that the film is still on track for a Summer 2024 release.
It has been speculated that the well-into post-production “Captain America: Brave New World” currently slated for July 26th next year could switch release slots with “Deadpool 3” which would give the latter more time to finish filming.
It’s not clear when other paused Marvel Studios projects like “Thunderbolts,” “Blade,” or “Daredevil: Born Again” will resume filming.
