Peacock has premiered the official trailer for “Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie,” a final turn for Tony Shalhoub as the obsessive-compulsive ‘Defective Detective’ years after his series wrapped.
Series creator Andy Breckman is writing and executive producing the film whilst Randy Zisk, who directed 35 episodes of the show, returns to direct.
Former cast members Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Melora Hardin and Hector Elizondo are also all back whilst they are joined by Caitlin McGee and James Purefoy.
The story sees Monk attempting to solve a very personal case that involves his beloved stepdaughter, Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.
The original series ran for eight seasons across 125 episodes on USA, helping kick off the scripted series boom for the basic cabler in the early 2000s with several hit series including “Burn Notice,” “Psych” and “White Collar”.
The critical favorite also drew more than nine million viewers for its 2009 series finale – a record for a scripted program on ad-supported cable at the time.
“Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie” premieres December 8th on Peacock.
