The first trailer is out for the anticipated “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” at Sony Pictures.
Shot under the working title of “Firehouse,” Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) helms the new entry – taking over from Jason Reitman, who remains onboard as a producer and co-writer with Kenan and Jason Blumenfeld.
Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon are returning after making their debuts in ‘Afterlife’, as are the three original surviving Ghostbusters played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.
Additionally, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind have been cast in undisclosed roles, whilst Annie Potts is back as Janine Melnitz whilst William Atherton returns as Walter Peck.
The project is considered ‘the next chapter of the Spengler family saga’ and returns the action to New York City and the iconic firehouse of the original film. The new film marks the first film in the franchise made without the involvement of Ivan Reitman
The revival film grossed over $200 million worldwide from a $75 million budget. The new film has already been slated for a March 29th 2024 release.
