Crazy Legs Features has scored the film rights to dancer/actress/author Mayte Garcia’s best-selling novel “The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince” which chronicles her romance as the first wife of the famed musical artist.
Garcia’s book shares the deeply personal story of their relationship – from an unconventional meeting backstage at a concert, to a fairy-tale wedding and artistic partnership, to devastating losses that ultimately dissolved their romantic relationship for good.
The pair were married for four years between 1996 and 2000, one of only two marriages for the musician who went on to marry Manuela Testolini from 2001-2006. He died in 2016 at age 57 from an accidental fentanyl overdose.
Prince remains among the best-selling musical artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide along with releasing nearly 40 studio albums including famed records like “Purple Rain,” “Sign o’ the Times” and “Diamonds and Pearls”.
He delivered many best-selling singles over his career including “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” “When Doves Cry,” “Raspberry Beret,” “Kiss,” “Cream,” “Gett Off” among others.
Crazy Legs is reportedly in search of a writer to pen the adaptation. Tom Cappello, Scott Thigpen and Marie Halliday will produce.
