Genvid Entertainment and Konami Digital Entertainment have announced the launch tonight of “Silent Hill: Ascension,” an interactive horror series based on the famed game franchise that will stream from 6pm US-PT.
The story follows the lives of two families in peril. Rachel Hernandez is a rising acolyte, mother and community leader who will perform a ritual on new cult member, Joy Cirelli, who seeks spiritual healing. Soon things go terribly wrong.
The fate of characters will be determined collectively by the audience’s choices with dozens of potential outcomes available as the series unfolds. The audience will be the one to determine the canonical ending.
Once tonight’s premiere wraps, viewers can watch updated scenes on demand, solve puzzles and take part in story decisions. New scenes will go live and be shaped by viewer feedback each day at the same time.
Genvid Entertainment CEO Jacob Navok says in a statement: “Audiences will experience Silent Hill: Ascension for the first time tonight and we have no idea what choices they will make, or how it will end. It’s a perfect time for Halloween where the community will shape this one-of-a-kind horror series over the course of the next several months.”
The games have been around for more than two decades and have sold millions of copies with a remake of the most famous entry “Silent Hill 2” on the way soon.
‘Ascension’ has already reportedly snagged over one million pre-registrations between Google Play and Apple’s App Store. Bad Robot Games and Behaviour Interactive are also involved in the project.
