The full extent of delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike remains unknown, but one thing is for sure – shooting schedules over the next 6-12 months will be mad house as projects jostle to start, continue or finish shooting depending on the availability of actors and facilities.
That includes the three “Star Wars” films announced back in April. Whilst both Dave Filoni and James Mangold films are a bit further off and unimpacted, the Daisy Ridley-led film from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is likely not so lucky.
According to StarWarsNews.net (via SFF Gazette), “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is aiming to have his latest draft of the screenplay finished by the end of this month with the script handed into Lucasfilm executives before Christmas.
At last report prior to the strikes, cameras were aiming to begin rolling in London in April. The site suggests it’s simply too soon and a August/September start date now seems more likely.
The site also shoots down a recent title rumor that has been swirling about the film suggesting it is called “Star Wars: A New Beginning”. They say Lucasfilm hasn’t decided on a title yet with that decision expected later.
The film is expected to unfold 15 years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” with Ridley’s Rey attempting to create a new Jedi Order. It will mark the film with the furthest along point in the “Star Wars” timeline.
