Arrow Video has announced “The Conan Chronicles,” a lavish limited edition 4K UHD Blu-ray set of 1982’s “Conan the Barbarian” and 1984’s “Conan the Destroyer” that is set to arrive early in 2024.
Arrow Films has conducted brand new 4K restorations of both films from the original negatives. Three versions of the film will be available by seamless branching – the Theatrical Cut (127 mins), International Cut (129 mins) and Extended Cut (130 mins).
There’s also newly restored original mono audio and remixed Dolby Atmos surround audio for both films.
Archive commentary by director John Milius and Arnole Schwarzenegger for the first film; and by director Richard Fleischer and actors Olivia d’Abo, Tracey Walter and Sarah Douglas for the second is included.
There’s also new commentaries for both films by genre historian Paul M. Sammon and newly assembled isolated score tracks in lossless stereo for both films.
Special features include newly filmed interviews with much of the major crew for both films along with others like filmmaker Robert Eggers and authors John Walsh and Alfio Leotto.
There’s also the 2000 doco “Conan Unchained: The Making of Conan,” a tribute to composer Basil Poledouris, numerous archive interviews, outtakes, trailers, still galleries, fold-out posters, postcards, collectors’ booklet and more.
“The Conan Chronicles” is available to pre-order now and will be released on January 16th 2024.
