It has been a busy week for Marvel Studios’ final film of the year this week. First up, several rumors have gone online regarding the film and franchise’s future.
Grace Randolph reported on X that a “last minute surprise” is being added to the film, but is not clear what that is and with the actor’s strike on since July it’s unlikely to be a cameo unless it’s one filmed many months ago (thus not a ‘last minute surprise’).
Scooper Daniel Richtman offered a much better explanation, saying it is a cameo: “Someone who was the perfect casting for a certain role and never got his chance to do justice with it cuz they wasted him on a s—- movie is coming back. That’s all I’m gonna say”.
It follows on from comments earlier this week on The Watch podcast (via CBM) where “MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios” author Joanna Robinson reportedly indicates that star Brie Larson wants to move on from the role. That is unconfirmed at this point.
In more official news, Disney has announced the runtime of Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” which is confirmed to be clocking in at 1hr 44 mins (104 minutes).
Whilst there have been numerous rumors and some exhibitor guesstimates via placeholder runtimes, the official runtime of the movie is now confirmed.
That breaks the previous record held jointly by both “The Incredible Hulk” and “Thor: The Dark World” as the shortest MCU movie ever made.
Both those films were nearly eight minutes longer at 1hr 52 mins (112 minutes) and are also considered two of the weakest MCU films to date.
“The Marvels” is set to open in cinemas on November 10th.
