Konami has shared the first “in-engine look” at gameplay, running on Unreal Engine 5, from the highly anticipated remake of the gaming classic “Metal Gear Solid 3”.
The footage debuted as a part of the Xbox Partner Preview live on Wednesday. All of the game’s environments are rendered in UE5 and captured in-game in real-time.
Though the fifth overall game published in the “Metal Gear” series, events in ‘Snake Eater’ are chronologically the first as the action follows Big Boss during the Cold War in the 1960s when he was known as Naked Snake. The original first arrived on PS2 back in 2004.
According to the official synopsis, a new generation of players and fans can experience the origin story of the famed Big Boss, and witness his legend being forged in the crucible of Operation Snake Eater in this new take.
Konami dubs the project a faithful remake, though neither Hideo Kojima nor Kojima Productions is reportedly involved in the game which is going by the name “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater”.
The third-party title was first revealed during a PlayStation Showcase earlier this year. The release comes as the original game has been re-released as part of the “Metal Gear Solid Master Collection: Volume 1” which hit stores earlier this week.
“Metal Gear Solid Solid Delta: Snake Eater” will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC at a date to be determined.
