Netflix has premiered a second trailer for Bradley Cooper’s biopic “Maestro”. Cooper both directs and stars in the film as legendary Broadway and film composer Leonard Bernstein.
Making his debut with the New York Philharmonic at 25, Bernstein wasn’t just a famed conductor and composer but also a civil rights activist and author. He also composed the musical “West Side Story” and the Oscar-nominated score for “On the Waterfront”.
Carey Mulligan stars as Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre in the film which Cooper co-wrote with Josh Singer (“Spotlight”) in a tale spanning over thirty years.
Matt Bomer, Sarah Silverman and Maya Hawke co-star in this first directorial effort for Cooper since his “A Star Is Born” remake.
Bernstein’s own music will serve as the film’s underscore. The film premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival to very good reviews.
Cooper also produces alongside Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Fred Berner and Amy Durning. The film will get a limited theatrical release on November 22nd with a streaming run on Netflix on December 20th.
