Netflix has premiered the full-length trailer for the new psychological thriller film “Leave The World Behind” from “Mr. Robot” and “Homecoming” creator Sam Esmail.
Based on a 2020 novel by Rumaan Alam, the story begins when a family vacation on Long Island is interrupted by two strangers – a father and daughter – with news of a blackout and seeking refuge
As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis – all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world.
Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, Kevin Bacon, Myha’la Herrold, Farrah Mackenzie and Charlie Evans co-star in the film which Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground label backing it.
Esmail also adapted the script for the film in which he says the “spectacle of the disaster is secondary and off in the distance” with the focus being on the characters and their reaction.
“Leave the World Behind” will premiere tomorrow night at AFI Fest ahead of a theatrical release on November 22nd and a streaming release on December 8th.
