With the American Film Market coming up, some casting news has begun to emerge with projects either granted interim agreements from SAG-AFTRA, or had stars attached prior to the actor’s strike commencing in July.
First up, Oscar winner Olivia Colman and Oscar nominee Dev Patel will lead the ‘twisted’ romance “Wicker”. Colman will play a perpetually ridiculed ‘smelly fisherwoman’ who sparks outrage and jealousy in her conservative town due to an unconventional romance.
Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson (“Save Yourselves!”) will direct from a script based on Ursula Wills-Jones’ short story “The Wicker Husband”. Filming begins mid-late next year in Europe.
Also today comes news that Oscar-winner Halle Berry is set to star in and produce Tara Miele’s ‘Kubrickian’ psychologicalthriller “The Process”.
The story follows a seemingly happily married couple, who attend the weekend seminar of a renowned self-help guru and are asked to examine their lives.
When the wife resists Aiden’s ‘process’ but the husband buys in, their relationship and sanity are quickly put to the test. Levin Menekse penned the Black List script while Holly Jeter, Robert Kravis, Julia Sandberg Hansson and Karl Herrmann also produce.
